Here is how to make working from home more productive
Hi everyone! Today we are going to talk about how to make work from home more productive, full of fun, and how to maintain work-life balance while working from home. A recent study shows that work from home employees or employees who work remotely work more than office-based employees. As many of us were not trained for the situation of working from home and some people miss going to the office because they have become used to of the office-based routine or to put it simply they have become robots who used to follow a 9 to 5 routine and now are clueless on how to efficiently work from home and end up being less productive or less efficient while working from home.
In this blog we are going to learn a few things that let us maintain a balance work-life routine and work more efficiently rather than spending the whole day working and leaving no time for your family.
Take Scheduled Breaks
You need to set up a break scheduled. Scheduled breaks are proven to increase your work productivity. Think of it as cardio, when you are doing cardio you take breaks in between the sets of a single exercise as well as between different exercises, similarly, while working take a break after doing a particular task, if your house a balcony take a fresh breath for instance.
Make a Work Schedule
The most important thing to do is to make a work schedule to be more productive. Maintaining the same schedule as if you were working at the office brings out more productivity as you have a time limit set in your mind to complete tasks for the day. Moreover, it also encourages you to be more efficient and you try new ways to complete your tasks.
Make a To-do List
At the start of your day make a to-do list of your tasks that you need to complete on a particular day and constantly keep an eye on that list and the tasks that you need to achieve to complete them in time and work efficiently.
Eliminate Distractions
According to my experience of working efficiently and being more productive, this tops the list as when you're working from home the number of distractions increases drastically and in order to eliminate those distractions the first and foremost step is to mute all the notifications of your phone except for the phone ringer and necessary apps that contribute to your daily work routine, for me its Whatsapp messenger, so I have kept my phone ringer on and the notifications for Whatsapp messenger only, all the other notifications are on mute.
Benefits of Working Remotely
Work from home has been proven to be beneficial for employees, employers, and the environment as a whole. The most prominent benefit for employees is that they save time wasted in commute, most employees who have a commute time of almost an hour save the precious hours and get can utilize them elsewhere. For employers, the major benefit is saving utility cost such as electricity, water, maintenance, etc. Lastly, an average person commutes thirty minutes to their work, which means they burn fuel on the road that emits fumes which create pollution and affect human health in general.
Managing Work Relationships
The only drawback on working from home according to my point of view is that you miss the human touch, many of you might miss seeing your colleagues or having a chat with them at the office, but we all need to see a bigger picture here and need to adapt to the changing situation.
